Cold Weekend Ahead

The rain is almost out of the area tonight and drier conditions will move into place. The area of heaviest rainfall occurred over the far southern counties where 1.00″+ of rain fell. Areas to the north received anywhere between 0.10″-0.50″.

Temperatures Tuesday night will drop into the lower 40s inland to near 50 along the coast. High temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will run about the same as today: mid to upper 50s.

The next feature that we will be keeping our eye on is the approach of a strong cold front Thursday night and into Friday. Right now moisture looks a little limited but can’t rule out a shower or two as the front passes. The real story here is the cold temperatures that will follow the front. Temperatures this weekend will be the coldest we have felt all season. Low temperatures on Thursday night will drop to the lower s with highs on Friday only getting up into the lower 40s. Friday night’s and Saturday night’s low will be in the mid 20s.

These temperatures won’t reach record levels but will still be around 10 degrees below climo.

Temperatures do rebound Sunday as high pressure to the north moves off the east coast and the return of southerly flow.

5day

The next system of interest will arrive at the beginning of next week.
