For most of the day the rain has remained over central NC and the southern Coastal Plains but has not progressed much further than that. If we look at the current conditions we can see part of the reason we aren’t seeing rain in some of those areas. It has been the dry air has been a limiting factor keeping most of the rain from overspreading the region. What has allowed the dry air to infiltrate is high pressure to the north which has kept a northerly flow over the area for most of the day.

Forecast soundings from KPGV from earlier showed a slow moistening of the lower troposphere are the day progresses.

With the first wave the system quickly approaching and the eroding of high pressure, we will continue to see the lower troposphere moisten up and finally see the rain in these dry areas.

The previous forecast for Monday-Wednesday have remained unchanged at this time.

Will continue to update as needed.
