Monday Evening Forecast Update

Mostly sunny skies tomorrow following the frontal passage. There is a slight risk of showers near the coast however I expect most to remain dry. Scattered showers and thunderstorms return back to the forecast for the second half of the week with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Dry start to next week with temperatures sneaking back to near 90 on Sunday and Monday.

In the Tropical Atlantic, things are starting to kick off as we approach the peak period of hurricane season. So far we have started off a record year with the earliest storms names beginning with the letters C, E, F, G, H, I, J, and K which puts us two weeks ahead of the record breaking year set in 2005. Long-range models indicating favorable conditions setting up for the second part of August and into September. Our interest turns to two disturbances in the Atlantic that have the potential to become the next tropical cyclones over the next couple of days. Invest 97L stands at 60% in 5 days and 98L stands at 90% in 5 days. Both storms are currently disorganized at this time with them being in less than ideal environmental conditions and their future strength or track is difficult to nail down at this moment but will require monitoring throughout the rest of this week and through the weekend.
