Hurricane Season Begins Tomorrow

Even though we have already had two named storms in the Atlantic (Arthur and Bertha), hurricane season officially starts tomorrow. We are also looking towards the Bay of Campeche where the remnants of Tropical Storm Amanda are currently passing over Guatemala. There is a chance that the remnants will emerge back over water and develop back into a tropical cyclone as conditions remain conducive for development over the next couple of days. This system won’t be in any hurry as it will sit over the same area through at least the end of the week. Even if it does redevelop, its future track is still uncertain and those living on the Gulf Coast will need to monitor the situation this week.

I urge all citizens to prepare for the upcoming season by visiting https://www.weather.gov/safety/hurricane.

This year’s storm names are below.
