Severe Weather Possible Over Portions of ENC

Update 7:15PM: The threat of severe weather across ENC has diminished for tonight. Heavy rain and some wind are still possible overnight.

There will be potential for severe weather over portions of ENC this afternoon. Heavy showers and thunderstorms (some severe with an active tornado warning) are currently moving there way through central South Carolina moving northeast. Temperatures have already made it to the mid 70s across most of the area with dew points around 70. This will allow sufficient instability for severe thunderstorms this afternoon. The main threat from these storms will include damaging winds and a possible tornado.

Right now the shaded area above has not been issued a watch at this time but the potential for a watch does exist and could occur at any time. Severe thunderstorms are already occurring with the line of storms to the southwest and even if a watch isn’t issued, strong to severe thunderstorms are still possible.

I will be keeping an eye on the severe weather situation through the afternoon and will provide updates as needed.
