...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY
EVENING...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the
following areas, Beaufort, Coastal Onslow, Duplin, East Carteret,
Greene, Hatteras Island, Inland Onslow, Jones, Lenoir, Mainland
Dare, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Northern Craven, Northern Outer
Banks, Ocracoke Island, Pamlico, Pitt, Southern Craven, Tyrrell,
Washington and West Carteret.
* WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rainfall from slow moving Tropical Cyclone Debby is expected
to fall across eastern NC through late week. The rainfall
will be heavy at times with widespread amounts of 5 to 10
inches and local amounts up to 15 inches possible. If these
amounts materialize than significant flooding of urban, low
lying, and poor drainage areas will be possible this week.
