The National Weather Service in Raleigh has extended the

Scotland County in central North Carolina…
Wayne County in central North Carolina…
Sampson County in central North Carolina…
Harnett County in central North Carolina…
Cumberland County in central North Carolina…
Wake County in central North Carolina…
Johnston County in central North Carolina…
Wilson County in central North Carolina…
Hoke County in central North Carolina…

* Until 500 PM EDT Saturday

* At 1034 AM EDT, emergency management officials reported flash
flooding across the warned area. Widespread rainfall totals of 9
to 12 inches of rain have fallen, with amounts up to 15 inches in
some locations. Flash flooding is already occurring.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Raleigh, Fayetteville, Cary, Goldsboro, Laurinburg, Smithfield,
Clinton, Raeford, Lillington and Fort Bragg.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. Do not enter
or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.

Life threatening flash flooding is occurring across the area. Do not
attempt to travel unless you must do so to escape the flooding or are
under an evacuation order. If you are in a low lying area, along a
creek or stream, or in an area experiencing flooding, take action now
to protect your life. Move to higher ground immediately.
