surface-analysis

This weekend’s weather will remain dry with high temperatures reaching the lower 50s and low temperatures in the mid 30s.

The start of the week will see rain starting early Monday as the shortwave energy approaches the area. This will help provide the lift needed to produce rainfall on Monday. There will be a lull in the rain starting from the southwest portions of ENC and move northeastward as the shortwave moves over and out of our area.

The lull in the precipitation should last roughly 12 hours before the larger mid-level trough moves quickly over ENC. The strength of this trough will be much greater than the previous wave and as a result, produce more rain. Right now the forecast calls for 1-2″ for both days this system is around. Monday’s high temperatures will be in the lower 50s and should increase to the lower 60s for Tuesday. High temperatures across the area will be cooler as a result of cold air wedging from the high pressure center over the northeast states.

By Wednesday, Arctic air will dive southward over the central US which will end up bringing us the coldest temperatures of the season. Looking long range once the cold air mass pushes eastward, the temperatures will once again take a nose dive out of Canada given the forecast models verify.

Have a nice weekend everybody!
